ASUS USB/MIR adaptor?
I using ASUS P5P800S motherboard which support UBS 2.0. Recently try to use the ASUS UBS/MIR REV. 1.11 (the 2 usb port type) adaptor which i got it from my old ASUS motherboard. I connect it to my motherboard connector (10-1 pin connector). The problem is I can’t use usb devise which only support USB 2.0 with
the adaptor. I have on problem using usb devise, which support USB 1.1 or 2.0. I have on problem with other port. Can any one have the driver or changing setting in BIOS, which enable the adaptor to support USB 2.0?
The problem is that Asus have fitted filtering on the two data lines to each USB port in the form of a series resistor (10 ohms on one line and 4.7 ohms on the other) and a shunt capacitor to ground at the USB socket end.
The solution is to remove this filtering by removing the four capacitors. The capacitors are numbered C2, C3, C4, C5 and are very small pink coloured components. Do not remove C1, C6 similar capacitors or the electrolytics CE1 and CE2.
Ideally you should use a special desoldering hot air gun but solderwick and a fine tipped soldering iron will do nicely. If you are desperate you might even get away with snipping them in half with a small pair of sidecutters!!
After the removal the pcb will read and write a USB flash drive.
