Combo Disc VCR Recorders
DVD recorders are devices that record data onto a DVD. DVDs are becoming a very good option for storing data because of their high storage capacities, reliability, cost and flexibility. DVD recorders have already replaced VCRs and CD recorders in most homes.
DVD recorders are great for storing many data including movies, Television shows and home videos. It quality is likewise a lot better than that from CDs or tapes. DVDs are mostly best with most recording formats including DVD-audio, CD-audio, DVD-R (write-once), DVD- RW (re-writable format of DVD-R), DVD+R (write once), DVD+RW (re-writable format of DVD+R) and DVD-RAM (re-writable with random access capability). With attractive options for instance multichannel, progressive scan, recording options in DVD and even VHS modes, twin recording formats (allows recording of two different programs on different channels simultaneously), and live TV pausing, DVD players have grown to be a favourite mainly people.
There's also DVD-VCR combos, which are well suited for playing both DVDs and also VHS tapes. In addition, they enable copying of home recordings from camcorder tapes or television recordings. Many of the top DVD-VCR combos are: the JVC DR-MX1S DVD/VCR/Hard Drive Recorder Combo, the LG LRY-517 Super-Multi DVD Recorder/VCR Combo, the Panasonic DMR-ES40VS DVD Recorder - VCR Combination, the Pioneer DVR-RT500 DVD Recorder/VHS VCR Combination, the Panasonic PV-DR2714 DVD Recorder/VCR/TV Combo, the Panasonic DMR-ES30VS DVD Recorder VCR Combination and also the Sony RDR-VX500 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo. Samsung and Toshiba are some of additional manufacturers on this product.
These types of DVD-VCR combos also provide other advanced features, like an 80GB or 160 GB hard disk, analog and Firewire AV inputs, video processing for enhancing image quality, flexibility in recording and playing, capability to record in most formats (DVD-R/DVD-RW/DVD+R/DVD+RW/DVD+R DL and DVD-RAM), built-in tuners that will work with antenna, cable or satellite boxes, S-video, DV (iLink, Firewire) video inputs, VHS recording and playback, and most importantly, progressive scan output for playback. Prices of these DVD recorder-VCR combos originate as $200, but those with very good quality and even more options use a minimum sale price of $300.
Sony's iLINK Cable and standard 4-4 Firewire Cable?
Good Day,
I have one of those old sony camcorders. TVR-480 to be exact.
The old "Picture Package" software that came with camcorder is only compatible to XP. I downloaded a newer version on Sony's site that is compatible for Vista. The problem is, the software would only allow video transfer using an iLink cable. (And not with the suppiled USB cable).
So I went to the nearest electronic shop to ask for the iLINK cable and they are out of stock.
However, I found a 4-4 Firewire cable in a computer shop nearby and it cost a lot less. (80 pesos vs 2000 pesos).
My question is, will a standard 4-4 Firewire cable work as an alternative for the Sony iLink cable?
Thanks!
Yes, FireWire and i.LINK are the same thing. Just make sure your computer has an i.LINK port. Most computers use the bigger, 6-pin FireWire port, not the smaller, 4-pin i.LINK port. Find out which you have, then get the right cable.
For example, if you have the smaller port, get a 4-4 cable. If your computer has the larger port, get a 4-6 cable.
What Can I Do with FireWire i.Link 1394 interface port?
