The Innovative Technologies Of The Hewlett-Packard 1100 Monochrome Laser Printer
The HP LaserJet 1100 Printer with LaserJet 1100 toner cartridge is a black-and-white laser type of printer ideal for a home or office setup. There are numerous types and sizes of media it can handle. Integrated print resolution and technologies by Hewlett Packard enable you to enjoy high-quality documents each time. Best of all, there are available features which permit lowered cost per print - very handy considering today's economic issues.
Within it is a powerhouse, a 35MHz Motorola Cold Fire processor. This allows for a printing rate of 8 ppm (page per minute) black-and-white letter size documents. From the box, a 2MB RAM is already installed and ready for use. But this may still be upgraded to a maximum of 18MB for managing more complicated printout tasks. This is made possible by the dual in-line memory module (DIMM) slot fitted onto the machine. It can support RAM sizes of 4MB, 8MB and 16MB.
There's one auto-load feeder capable of handling 125 sheets. Recommended media weight for the input tray is 20 pounds. Compatible media sizes include letter, legal, executive, A4 and custom sizes ranging from 3 inches x 5 inches to as large as 8.5 inches x 14 inches. Media types supported are plain paper, transparencies, labels, card stock, postcards and envelopes. Compatible envelope sizes include international B5, international C5, international DL, monarch and com-10.
Printer resolution used is 600 x 600 dots per inch. This is just about enough for printing everyday home and office documents containing text and graphics. Taking care of providing photo like-quality to printed grayscale images is the HP's Image Resolution Enhancement technology, or REt. Additionally, there's also the UltraPrecise HP replacement toners to provide printouts that have sharp details and clean appearance.
With the cost of everything rising, including office supplies, it's important to make the most out of every print. Fortunately, there are certain features Hewlett Packard has integrated into the 1100 monochrome laser to lower the cost per print. Manual duplexing allows you to print on both sides to save on paper. Switch on the EconoMode to achieve printouts that use as much as 50 percent less toner. Such feature is very handy for printing drafts.
N-up printing enables you to print multiple pages on one sheet of paper to save on supplies. Simply select the number of pages you want to print, and they will be automatically resized and arranged in a single sheet. Monthly duty cycle is set by the manufacturer at 7000 pages. By not exceeding this recommended output volume per month, one can expect reliable performance, both from the printer and the toner cartridge.
The white enclosure measures 14.5 in (width) x 12.8 in (depth) x 14.9 in (height) making it suitable to be placed on a desktop. With the toner cartridge installed, it has a 16.1 lb weight. Printer language used is HP's PCL 5e, and there are scalable typefaces amounting to 26 in all. It's also capable of printing booklets, as well as creating watermarks. For example, sensitive office documents may have the word "confidential" on them.
The HP LaserJet 1100 Printer has an interface that uses high-speed IEEE 1248 bi-directional parallel port for easy connection to a computer. It's compatible with a variety of media and it boasts of features developed by HP itself. Because of its high performance LaserJet 1100 toners and flexible features, this monochrome laser printer is suitable for installation in a small office or home setup.
IEEE 1394 port?
I'm trying to get video from my camcorder to the computer using S video and the program I'm using is Windows Movie Maker which isn't recognizing that the camcorder is hooked up. In the help section it keeps talking about an IEEE 1394 port? I also can't even get the laptop to recognize that the camcorder is hooked up. Help!
IEEE1394 port is a firewire port...if you don't know what it is, chances are your laptop doesn't have one. So your next best option is using a AV capture device connected to a USB port.
