Exhausting Disk Failures Trigger Bankruptcy - Is Your Home Office Pc Protected?
Computer systems are wonderful inventions, till they go wrong. Each company stores knowledge on its computers, instead of in submitting cabinets. That data consists of invoices payable, buyer details, debts, etc. If something goes mistaken with the pc exhausting drive the info may very well be lost. Day by day, companies go out of business because of catastrophic knowledge loss caused by laptop crashes.
Large corporations do again up their knowledge, but what about the one-man firm where the paperwork is completed on a Sunday morning? Increasingly more persons are working from residence on private computer systems which have zero protection against information loss attributable to laborious disk failure or energy surges.
Every firm, large or small should back up their data, preferably to an alternative location, but most one-man companies fail to observe this fundamental survival strategy because of the time it takes to again up the information each day.
Even these firms must develop the behavior of backing up all customer information to a removable laborious disk, pen-drive or similar, or to a CD/DVD. Another various is to purchase a RAID hard drive to your PC. These drives save your data to multiple hard disk, and test for inconsistencies between the 2 or extra information sets. If there are differences then this could be a signal that one of many onerous disks will fail soon, enabling you to avoid losing the information within the first place.
Laborious drive disks spin at as much as eight,000 revolutions a minute, They're extremely engineered, but, as a result of they've transferring components, wear happens, and disks stop working.
There are lots of companies who will try to retrieve your data from a non-useful laborious drive. The service isn't low cost, and if you employ a contractor to do that who isn't using the right software program, you've got a 50% chance of your knowledge being totally destroyed.
If your company is determined by that knowledge for its survival, and it does, the excessive price is value it. Significantly better though, to get into the behavior of backing up your information each night time

copy OS to a new RAID?
I just recently acquired a cheap PCI RAID card and would like to set up RAID. Although I do not want to reinstall the OS and all my other programs so I was wondering if there is a possibility I can get around this. I was currently thinking if I could possibly copy my HDD to another HDD, set up the RAID 0, then recopy back to the new RAID setup. I don't know if since this is a software RAID card that this would pose a problem, but I was just throwing out an idea. I appreciate all the help and ideas. Thank you
(Additional information) -----
i have a 1tb with my OS that i was to clone, another 1 TB that i was to set up raid with, and a couple miscellaneous drives. If i could, I want to clone to another smaller drive. im only using 40gigs on my 1TB as i just recently formatted (which is why i dont want to reformat again). Thanks again
I think the best way to go is set up your RAID and install fresh. If you clone and try to boot from the RAID there will probably be freezes and/or blue screens as the drivers for the raid aren't installed and the system is configured differently. Well if it's windows 7 you may get away with a reboot or two, if it is XP forget it. It 's not worth the time and effort. Better spent it on installing fresh.
